The Ghana Breast Cancer Specialty Training Course, hosted by the Ghana Breast Cancer Alliance and the Breast Health Global Initiative in collaboration with HopeXchange and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, was held in Kumasi during January 11-15, 2010 and was a great success. This first on-the-ground Learning Laboratory experience brought together over 160 doctors, nurses and social workers from all regions of Ghana to learn the fundamentals of breast cancer early detection, diagnosis and treatment.
The next LL course in being planned for August 2010 in Accra.

Sponsors: In recognition of the importance of international collaborative partnerships, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is funding specific activities through HopeXchange, Inc. that support the development of the Ghana Breast Cancer Alliance (GBCA) Program and establishment of the first BHGI Learning Laboratory in Kumasi, Ghana. As a result, BHGI received a sub-award from HopeXchange for the creation of the Learning Laboratory and relevant courses to develop and test education and training modules based on the BHGI clinical breast health and cancer control guidelines that can be adapted and used by diverse communities to expand their existing breast health programs.
