Summary of Past Global Summits and Guidelines Publications
Four successful BHGI biennial Global Summits consecutively produced unprecedeted tools for developing nations: biennial editions of innovative BHGI clinical Guidelines for International Breast Health and Cancer Control to effectively detect, diagnose and treast breast cancer in LMCs and special related scientific publications which now serve as medical tools for LMCs, freely available via the Internet.
To complete the BHGI iterative series of clinical guidelines for LMCs, a fifth Global Summit was held in October, 2012. The Global Summit on International Breast Health Guidelines for International Breast Health and Cancer Control: Supportive Care and Quality of Life, that was held in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT), will produce the first consensus evidence-based, economically stratified Supportive Care and Quality of Life Guidelines, with peer-reviewed publication anticipated later in 2013. The Guidelines will complement previously published BHGI Guidelines, marking the first time an organization has addressed ‘supportive care and quality of life’ issues for international breast health and cancer control.
